We are excited to invite you to our August meeting of the Raleigh-Durham Chapter of Women in eDiscovery. We will meet on August 25, 2016 at 12:30pm at Young Moore and Henderson in Raleigh.  RSVPs are required to ensure we have enough lunch for everyone. Kindly RSVP to raleigh-durham@womeninediscovery.org no later than close of business on Monday, August 22.

Our speaker for this month will be Jason Burton with the Burton Law Firm in Raleigh.  Jason will discuss ethical considerations for North Carolina practitioners in connection with the preservation and collection of e-mail and other ESI evidence.  The discussion will focus on ethical considerations surrounding: (1) general preservation duties; (2) the duty to  disclose metadata; (3) the admission of ESI in court proceedings; (4) privilege waivers; and (5) searching social media networking sites.  The presentation will give a general overview of ethical considerations related to the above topics as well as practical tips and tricks related to the same.

Lunch will be sponsored by DSicovery.

Elections:

It's that time of year again!!  We will have our elections for our 2016-2017 board at our August meeting.  If you would like to run or if you have already volunteered to run for a position, please email your bio to rochelle.gagg@elliswinters.com by August 15th.  You will be asked to speak briefly at the August meeting.

Charity:

We will be collecting school supplies and gift cards for 2 organizations this month to help children in need as they head Back To School.  Orange County Social Services would love any donations of school supplies to help families in need.  OCSS said that even after school starts they have lots of families reaching out for supplies.  We would also like to support the Haven House in Raleigh with gift cards to Walmart, Target, Staples, etc.  These gift cards will be used for additional school supplies after school starts, to help clients in the apartment program purchase supplies for their first apartment after being homeless or to help a youth that is staying at Wrenn House (shelter for homeless youth between the ages of 10-17).  Please consider donating to these worthy causes.

We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!!
