Hello ladies!
For our meeting this April 2016, we are excited to announce our topic and speakers, Information Governance in an Electronic World with Judge Yeakel and Jonathan Lass.
Judge Yeakel is an Article III Federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. He joined the court in 2003 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Earlier in his career, he was a private attorney from 1969 to 1988. Prior to being unanimously voted in as a judge, he was appointed as Chief Justice on the Texas Court of Appeals for the Third District in 1998. He served there until his appointment to the federal court in 2003. Judge Yeakel earned his bachelor and JD degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in 1966 and 1969. He later graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law with his Master of Laws degree in 2001.
Jonathan Lass is a partner at the law firm of Jackson Walker LLP, where his legal practice focuses on Technology Law. He represents clients on technology, corporate, and intellectual property transactions and complex projects. These transactions range from mergers and acquisitions to software licensing to outsourcing deals to cyber security and data breach issues. Mr. Lass is a long-standing member of the University of Texas School of Law Technology Law Conference Planning Committee and a frequent speaker on topics of technology transactions, e-discovery, and cyber security issues. Mr. Lass authored the “Computer Usage Policies, Records Management, and Information Governance” chapter in the legal textbook, Essentials of E-Discovery published by the State Bar of Texas in 2014. Mr. Lass is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and sits on the Board of Directors of the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
