Come join your WiE colleagues and bake cookies for a great cause on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. "Cookie Cart provides teens 15 to 18 years old with lasting and meantingful work, life and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban nonprofit bakery." http://cookiecart.org/about/cookie-cart/. We will be helping the teen employees scoop fresh dough, hand decorate cookies, and assemble bakery boxes while giving the teens an opportunity to practice their networking skills with us.
Directions and Parking: Cookie Cart is located between Fremont and Emerson on West Broadway Avenue. There is free public parking in a lot directly behind the building as well as on Broadway and Fremont. If parked in the back, volunteers can enter the building through the back door by ringing a buzzer next to the back door. Upon arrival, volunteers will check in at Cookie Cart's lobby where they will sign in, get nametags and meet bakery staff who will take the volunteers on a tour before they get started in the bakery.
Attire: Volunteers are asked to dress for comfort since they will be on their feet while working in the bakery. Open-toed shoes are not allowed in the bakery. Any clunky jewelry may need to be removed. There is storage onsite where volunteers can lock up belongings. Cookie Cart will provide aprons, hairnets and rubber gloves.
RSVP via Evite.
